Myself and my husband arrived half an hour before check in, the front of house was fantastic, welcoming and checked us in immediately. Very friendly and approachable ladies on the front desk - nothing but praise for them. We paid for a King Room and I was very satisfied with the size and cleanliness of the room. It was perfectly presented and stocked of all complimentary refreshments, a member of staff even brought fudge to our door within 10/15 minutes of arriving as a welcome to the room. I received a text from the front of house to check I was happy with the room and I was. The shower was very hot once you gave it a minute, very handy having the hair products and hair dryer available in the room too. The hotel itself was magnificent, truly magical. It did remind me of a grand bank from many years ago. I recommend taking the stairs if you are able as that was a sight in itself. We ate at Refuge in the evening, we ordered two small plates, a big plate, two extras and three desserts. A bottle of cider and a cocktail. We spent around £149 with a service charge that we were more than happy to pay. The service was on point, food was exceptional and the speed was good. You didn't feel rushed even though the dining room was very busy. Nothing bothered you while you were eating which I loved. I requested extra tea bags to be sent up to the room and this was done without a fuss, the gentleman again was very friendly and couldn't do more for us. Breakfast was truly great, nothing was too much, the food was again exceptional and unlimited. I highly recommend eating here. A late check out was ideal, and the hotel even offered to store our bags for the day if we wanted to enjoy Manchester. Wonderful service!!

On entering the hotel we were knocked out by its astounding architectural beauty. The staff were very helpful and polite in fact it was a perfect welcome. On the way to our room again we noticed what a beautiful old building this was and how well it had been looked after. When we opened our room door it had a WOW effect. After unpacking we went for some late lunch and upon our return to the room found our PJS had been folded and placed on the bed with a chocolate on each pillow, a lovely little touch. We then called in at the hotels "Refuge" bar. We were greeted by a DJ playing 70s funk. The music was not too loud that we could not have a conversation and the bar itself was a place I could spend many an evening in. After we returned from our concert to our room we enjoyed a great nights sleep . Considering it was in the city centre and next to a tram track it was very quiet. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide choice of cold and hot food. My wife had fruit and I had a bacon butty a great end to our stay there. We are already planning a return trip there.

Lovely lady on reception greeted us. We had a room for three adults, two double beds and there was plenty of space, gorgeous high ceiling with a lovely bathroom. Plenty of pillows, lovely white linen and beds firm enough for me. I could have done with sachets of ordinary coffee. We loved the offer of a complementary drink in the evening thank you, and were served by very polite staff. The hotel reception and breakfast room are exceptional, so full of character. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and cooked lovely. We also appreciated the close proximity of a secure car park and the reduced fee. Will definitely stay again.

The decor and grandeur of the building was stunning. There was a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very professional, polite and helpful throughout our stay. The food at dinner and at breakfast was very nice and good value for money. Our room was a reasonable size for a one night stay and even though it was in the lower ground floor, it was light and airy in the room and in the corridors. There was a magnificent horse in the entrance hall and an impressive staircase up to the clock tower. Perfectly located for Manchester Oxford road train station. Will definitely stay here again.

The whole experience of the hotel was exceptional from the moment we arrived, Staff on reception were attentive, hotel was in fabulous condition, the room was great, bathroom and shower also. The breakfast was superb, again with attentive staff, engaging in conversation with us and a beautiful setting. The location was also fantastic, being within walking distance to pretty much everything. The next time I am in Manchester, I will be booking again.
